The most likely culprit is your content. Content is KING. Which means that even if you are doing everything else right if you are not sharing authentic, creative and on-brand content, you will not get engagement.​

So how do you create authentic content? Check out the following five tips!


1. Develop a Voice for Your Brand

Strategize how you would like to come across to your target market. Are you playful and fun or more serious and authoritative? Is your purpose to entertain or to educate?


A good place to start developing your brand voice is to analyze your mission statement and develop a ‘brand personality’. This will make your content stand out from other dull, faceless corporations.


2. Constantly Create and Curate NEW Content

Avoid reusing content from other brands at all costs. All content that you share should be created or CAREFULLY and MEANINGFULLY curated.


​Of course you will find inspiration in other content and brands but be sure to put your own spin on things.


Your content should be based on your own research and should use your voice, thoughts and opinions! A re-used piece of content will never feel authentic and will often lose your follower’s trust.


3. Write for Real People

After doing extensive market and keyword research it is tempting to pack your posts with keywords or popular hashtags- however keep in mind that you are writing for real people!


Your primary goal should be to provide value for your audience! And this will be rewarded with loyalty and trust.


Add stories or anecdotes to captivate and interest your audience and show them that you are a real person behind a real brand!


4. Be Consistent and Stay On Brand

Once you have decided on your voice and your story then it is important to stay consistent.


You also want to alight your online personality with your in-person experience. Every interaction you have with your customers—whether by phone, email, or face-to-face— is an opportunity to  reinforce your brand.


5. Believe in Your Brand

if you truly stand by your company’s mission and believe that the content you’re sharing is meaningful, your audience will see that. Learn, grow, and create WITH your audience.
